Sweet G made the most adorable giraffe.

But he was tired and his crankiness came out.
After one stop at Penni's he was done and ready to be carried.
Five minutes later he and Kelly went home so I could continue with Jelly Bean.

To say my superman was excited is an understatement.
He flew with arms outstretched from house to house, happy to see friends and say "trick or treat".

He was perfect at saying thank you, so polite he made me proud.

I came home to put G to bed and Kelly took our superman pilot out for another trick or treat run.
When he came home he was so hopped up on sugar he had a very late bedtime.
Bo on sugar and the late hour make him hilarious.

carving pumpkins toddler style

I'm so happy we could get our pumpkin carving done before halloween, it was a little tricky with Kelly being gone most of the month, but we had success on halloween eve. To keep the boys safe but involved, they each painted their own pumpkins that they picked out last week at the sincerest pumpkin patch. Bo added eyes, nose, mouth, ears, and unknowns to his. Such a happy pumpkin.

Sweet G enjoyed himself too.

After G went to bed, Bo helped Kelly scoop the guts out of his pumpkin, he was grossed out.

He kept asking when we were going to eat the pumpkins.
"It tastes yummy mama"

Boo at the Zoo

Kelly had his last October trip, we picked him up from the airport and headed straight to the zoo.
Ah I have such happy boys!

IMG_9068

We heard so many ooohs and awwws over our boys.
I just beamed.
Proud mama right here.
And the way Bean skips with joy? Well, it's my joy too.

Annie & Shelley's Halloween Party

This year Annie and Shelley took over the little neighborhood halloween party, they did a great job and it was so fun. They invite a lot of the neighborhood, and it was a good turnout with so many creative costumes.

I waited until the day of our neighborhood halloween party to finalize Bean's costume. With Kelly gone almost all of October and no grand ideas for a family theme costume this year, I wasn't too worried. Every time I asked Bo what he wanted to dress up as, he responded "trick or treat!" or "superman" or "I want candy". If I dressed him up like candy he would likely try to eat himself the whole night, and he's already superman every week, so I decided to let him pick something out last minute. Four stores on one street sold costumes, and in each store I pointed things out to him and he said no. At the last one he saw the airplane and flipped, he was so excited.

Soon as the costume was on he was running around with arms spread, flying.

Sweet G made the perfect little giraffe, only that darling little face poking through. He appeared so confused about what was going on. Just stood there staring at everyone.

most sincere pumpkin patch

Last year our we discovered Red Barn Farm, a beautiful pumpkin patch in Weston. They have farm animals, fall games, a cute little country store, and the most importantly, the most sincere pumpkin patch. Not the typical pumpkins being dumped in a field and called a pumpkin patch - this is the real thing.

What's funny about this little trip is I was on day two of migraine, my boys were grumpy from waiting in a long line to take our hayride, Sweet G couldn't walk a step without tripping over a vine, carrying boys and pumpkins at the same time felt impossible, and everything else felt a little impossible along with it. But there was no where else I'd rather be.

That's how motherhood is - feeling impossible and overwhelmed and exhausted and thankful to my core for it all.

We have a book called My Happy Pumpkin that Jelly Bean loves. We go through the book and when we get to the page with the pumpkin patch he likes to choose his favorite pumpkin and pretend to eat it, and his favorite apple and eat that, and so on. So at the patch I should not have been surprised with all of this going on -

the whole time. This kid cracks me up.

Sweet G had to wear his linus shirt, the same one B wore last year, in hopes of seeing the great pumpkin.

Springfield

Kelly was in Springfield on rotation and we were sorely missing him, especially my little B, he had the hardest time. After his first week we made the three hour drive. It was such a relief to be with him.

We went to the zoo, which although small was beautiful and had plenty for the kids to do.
Feeding giraffes has been on my bucket list a long time, and this was my main reason for wanting to come to this zoo. Being up close to these beautiful creatures was amazing. They knew why we were there, they came right up and flicked their long tongues at us.

At first Bean was a bit nervous.
But later he got courageous and fed one all by himself.

Baby G loved it, until the giraffe's tongue touched him and he freaked out, it was awesome.

They also had an adorable little train that went around in a loop. My boys love their trains.
G's tiny hand on my leg makes me incredibly happy.
These little boys are my joy.

The drive home was okay, but poor little G threw up as he does when his food allergies act up.
Sigh.
We are working on it.
